The British Comedy Awards were held last night and they did not fail to impress. The venue was buzzing with celebrities, comedians and comediennes alike. The gang of partiers included Pineapple Studio's star Louis Spence, Noel Fielding who always tries to dress to impress and the you've been tangoed cast of The Only Way Is Essex. Jonathan Ross was the host of the night and introduced many laughs to the audience. One gag centered around Eammon Holmes and Ross spoke of him being "The elephant in the room". He also spoke about Sir Elton John and David Furnish's new baby and joked "David, if you're watching the baby needs changing. Elton's bored with it already."

All in all it was a great night for British Comedy, especially for Miranda Hart, one of the newest and most genuine ladies on the laughter scene.
The controversial coming of age comedy The Inbetweeners shocked by picking up Best Sitcom, pipping another nomination for Miranda to the post. The award for Best Sketch Show was presented to CBBC's factual Horrible Histories the only children's TV comedy to be nominated.
The ceremony was held at the Indigo2 in South-East London and was aired on Channel 4 opposed to the usual ITV for the first time in 20 years. This was after they snapped it up with comedy popularity continuing to rise, especially in these politically and financially dark times. A little laughter is needed and home-grown comedy is successful in doing this once more.
